We have openings for Associate Teachers for the 2026-2027 school year.

The role of the Associate Teacher is to support the Lead Teacher in preparing and maintaining a prepared and safe environment so the children may engage in self-directed learning. The Associate Teacher actively maintains order in the classroom so the Lead Teacher can provide lessons to students.

The Lead and Associate Teachers work together to provide a high quality Montessori education to help children grow academically, emotionally/socially and physically.

The Associate Teacher reports to the Lead Teacher for classroom/Montessori matters.

Qualifications

  • High School Degree

  • At least one year’s experience working with young children

  • Able to meet the State of New Hampshire Childcare Licensing requirements

  • CPR/First Aid Certification

  • Committed to learn more about Montessori education

  • Excited to work with young children

  • Able to physically position oneself at children's level - kneel, crouch, sit on floor, lift a minimum of 25 pounds and be outside in different weather.

Responsibilities

  • Support Lead Teacher in maintaining a beautiful, orderly and well-prepared

  • Montessori environment that reflects a high standard of care, organization, safety and intentionality.

  • Support Lead Teacher by allowing her/him to provide lessons to students. This means maintaining order in the classroom, so the Lead Teacher is not interrupted by students or having to stop the lesson to help a student.

  • At the direction of the Lead Teacher, prepare materials for the classroom with cleanliness and safety in mind always.

  • Communicate effectively with the Lead Teacher on classroom expectations and student performance.

  • Support students where needed including nap/rest time, toileting, transitions, etc. while encouraging independence.

  • Engage positively and professionally with other staff members and families.

  • Model professionalism and Montessori values.

  • Communicate expectations and limits clearly and firmly while showing respect for children.

  • Remain calm especially in unexpected and difficult situations.

  • Maintain confidentiality, respecting students and family privacy.

  • Participate in staff meetings and other school functions.

  • Complete professional development with a focus on a greater understanding of Montessori.

Toddler focus: Physical independence, emotional regulation and language development.

Primary focus: Intellectual development, concentration, social cooperation and academic skills.
